A common complaint by home winemakers is that the wine making kit they’ve purchased has all the right equipment but falls short on detailed instructions for actually making wine.

A typical wine making kit does include instructions, it’s just that the primary focus of the kit is the equipment and the instructions guide, being a secondary focus, is not as detailed as it could be for making great wine and handling any snags that may arise during the wine making process.

In particular, beginning wine makers are left scratching their heads on what to do with all this great equipment, wondering just how are they going to use it to make that great homemade wine they’ve been looking forward to.

The Making of Wine

Along with your wine making kit, I recommend that you purchase a good wine making book that provides a detailed guide through the entire wine making process as well as several suggestions for enhancing the wine and tips on avoiding some of the biggest mistakes made when making wine at home. The book should also have a variety of recipes to follow that will have you making great tasting homemade wine for a very long time – perhaps even time enough to perfect an award winning homemade wine!

Several “How to” Wine books have received high praises, including:
